Practical Advise Concerning Moving
- If you want to move house look for a moving company and not just a moving truck or hauling truck. The difference especially is that a moving company offers not only a vehicle, but experienced personnel.
- The extent of the moving company work should cover moving the place, e.g. in case of its decorating or changing of the flooring, then dismantling and assembling the equipment and finally complete removal of properties (including e.g. building materials).
- To choose a company according to their price is not necessary. Low hourly rate can mean longer working time and vice versa. We recommend you to choose according to what impression the person makes on you during your telephone conversation.
- Of course you can count the time of moving approximately. A big wardrobe, a bed or a sofa takes about 10-15 minutes to load and the same amount of time to unload. In this way you can find out an approximate time needed for moving and the price as well.
- It is possible to move little volume but rates are set according to the time and not according to the amount of things or the number of kilometers.
- In the case of exchanging flats, it is cheaper to hire one company for both of the households. Employees of the company know one another and can work both on the way there and on the way back. Thus you can save some money because just one vehicle is used.
- In the case where you move house within the same town, you do not have to look for a big vehicle. Avia for wardrobes should be sufficient. Most of the 3+1 flat furnishings fit into it.
- You do not have to look for a vehicle with padding. Experienced workers will make up for this deficit and it is financially less demanding.
- Do not hire a vehicle with just two but with three workers. Even though it does not look logical at first sight you will save money in the end. One of the workers has to load the furniture on the vehicle. The time it takes the two workers to go to the flat for the second wardrobe, with three workers, they are already going for the third one.
- In case of 1+1, 2+1 and 3+1 flats do not hire more than one car and five people. Hiring more people means that the furniture will be brought to the vehicle sooner but then it has to be loaded and there will be idle time. When you unload you can ask your friends to help you.
- Make sure the entrance to the house is not blocked. Every meter means longer time of work and more money.
- Do not leave the packing for moving day.
- Pack things in a way so that even you can carry them yourselves. The furnishings must be put down several times and it is better for one person to handle as many boxes and bags as possible.
- Do not leave wardrobes and sofas or beds with storage space full. They are not made for such load and if they do not fall apart during the move the quality of the joints will certainly suffer. Besides that a wardrobe full of clothes is difficult to handle and there is a danger of collision.
- It is not enough to lock and put tape over the wardrobes. Fasten them horizontally. Take loose shelves out of them. Keep the keys in a safe place.
